At NicSo Studio, we firmly believe that every family’s unique story deserves to be celebrated joyfully. Each parent, child, and relationship is special, and it’s a true privilege to capture these precious moments as timeless works of art. As a Charlotte LGBTQ+ newborn photographer, receiving recognition from Gays With Kids is not just an honor, it’s a reflection of the core values of NicSo Studio.
This past month, I was overjoyed to see my newborn photography featured not once, but twice on @gays_with_kids. They are a prominent platform in the LGBTQ+ parenting community that continues to shine a light on the diverse and beautiful narratives of families like yours.
I am passionate about showcasing love in all its vibrant forms. This reminds us that every family’s journey deserves to be seen, cherished, and remembered. It is a privilege to play a small yet meaningful role in the experiences of families as they embrace parenthood.
The first feature celebrated a beautifully intimate newborn session filled with connection, joy, and love shared by this incredible family. Lance and Antonio described their journey with heartfelt words: “Three years of prayers. One perfect miracle.”
After nearly 3 years of hope, tears, and unexpected challenges, Lance and Antonio’s dream of fatherhood has finally come true. This summer, they welcomed their sweet son, Grayson Saint — the answer to every prayer and the reason their hearts finally feel whole.
“This is what answered prayers look like,” the new dads shared, reflecting on the long journey that brought them to this moment. Now, every sleepless night and every moment of waiting feels worth it, because they get to be his dads.”
Lance and Antonio wanted to truly capture the essence of their little miracle, Grayson Saint. At NicSo Studio, we customize every newborn session to meet the dreams of our clients. For their baby announcement, they envisioned a royal-themed video, so we brought that vision to life with a custom throne for Grayson, adding an unexpected touch to the session.
We also focused on capturing the beautiful bond between the two dads and their sweet boy. Documenting the soft smiles and the warm expressions of awe as they gazed at their child was an inspiring experience that I’ll always treasure. We also tied in some details that nodded towards their wedding and nursey theme bringing the whole session together!
Shortly after, my second newborn session was highlighted by Gays With Kids. This feature showcased not just a baby’s arrival but also the expansive love shared among a new baby, his big sister, his dad, and his wonderful grandma. A beautiful trio that truly represents the strength of family across generations!
Juan shared an empowering message: “If you truly want to be a parent, you can, you have the right to, you have resources and support! It’s not always easy, but you got this.”
Juan, a proud dad from Charlotte, NC, always knew fatherhood was part of his story. Growing up as his mom’s only child, he dreamed of creating the same joyful memories with kids of his own. Through surrogacy, he made that dream real — first welcoming his daughter, now 4, and most recently his son, just one month old.
For Juan, the best part of parenting is looking into his children’s eyes and seeing unconditional love, watching them learn something new every day, and appreciating the small, simple moments of just being together.
The path hasn’t been without challenges. As a brown-skinned gay dad with lighter-complexioned children, Juan often faces stares and awkward questions, and balancing career and parenthood isn’t easy. Still, he celebrates his family openly: “We talk about having two daddies and reinforce that every family is different — what’s important is that your parents love you.”
Now, with two children by his side, Juan says, “It feels surreal to be sitting in this position two children later, but I’m immensely blessed — and ready to help others realize their journey to parenthood.”
Capturing the moments between Juan’s children was an essential part of our session. His big sister absolutely adores her baby brother, and together, we were able to document all the love-filled snuggles, kisses, and playful smiles that showcase their evolving bond.
The resulting images beautifully illustrate the tender moments that families hold dear to their hearts. Art that I cannot wait to install in their home.
Representation matters. For LGBTQ+ families in Charlotte and beyond, having their stories recognized and celebrated is a source of empowerment. These features weren’t merely about showcasing images from a newborn session. They celebrated love, resilience, and the unparalleled beauty of new parenthood in all its forms.
